Hi. I’m Megan.
I write about life, travel, and building a life where Monday morning is not the enemy.
A few years ago, I found myself in a situation where I was waking up every single Monday morning with a sense of dread. I realized it was because I had allowed myself to become distracted, and somewhere along the way I had stopped actively working towards all of the things that I really wanted to do. I knew something had to change, but I felt completely stuck, and had no idea where to start.
So, I started this blog as a way to document my attempts at following through with all the things that I always told myself I would do someday, as a way to hold myself accountable for actually doing them. I figured I had to start somewhere, so I began with checking off some of the smaller things that I loved to do, or always dreamed of doing:
- I explored new places in the city to have a cold beer
- learned to scuba dive
- embarrassed myself by attempting to revive a childhood dream
- went skydiving
- finally took the Hogwarts express
- Made a 5 year travel bucket list
- knocked one of those places off the list on a dream trip to the Galapagos
Eventually, it was time for The Big One. The thing that I knew I was working my way up to all these years, but was terrified to actually do.
In June 2016, I quit my job to set out on an around the world adventure with my husband, to live out our dream of traveling the world together. We left home in August of 2016, and you can read about the first phase of our trip here.
I love to travel as much as possible, and am constantly trying to learn as much as I can about life, and the best way to live it for myself. Needless to say, this is an indefinite work in progress. When I am not exploring a new destination, I am usually on the lookout for a new experience or adventure to try in my own backyard (wherever that might be). I think if anything, the underlying message of this blog is that it is never too late to get out there and do something (anything!) that excites you. In fact, I think we all owe it to ourselves.
These experiences and adventures are typically the types of things I end up writing about on this blog. That’s not to say I don’t also spend the occasional day binge-watching Netflix with a glass of wine, because let’s face it, those days are also essential to life, but unfortunately don’t make for very exciting blog posts.
For the Love of Monday is for anyone that thinks it is worthwhile to fight to live a life where you are doing something that makes you excited to get up (most) Mondays, or if you just want to watch me stumble my way around the world while I try and figure it out, then it’s for you too.
